Die casting and forging presses processes often involve high-temperatures, severe frictional forces, and lubricant that can consists of oily-graphite compounds. This lubricant and coolant combination creates heavy oil smoke and mist emissions approaching and often exceeding 80 mg/m3 of sub-micron emissions. In addition, this emission source can include a “clumpy and sticky residue”. This residue can blind the face of a conventional filter and create pre-mature filter life and excessive maintenance.
The Solution
The Absolent A-Smoke is ideal for handling these emissions with large coalescing fiber bed filters designed for heavy emissions; These collectors operate for a minimum of one to two years without filter changes or maintenance. Special provisions for preventing the “sticky residue” from blinding the Absolent filters include:
- Removable pre-filters
- Advanced technology spray nozzles with a programmable timer to keep the face of the fiber bed filter “wetted” and clear of debris.
Oil reclaim is typically accomplished with an automatic pump-back system with float/level controls and a head-pressure of 27’ which allows the oil to be re-used directly in the process machine.
